Our Team

The Story Seeds Podcast is a production of Literary Safari Media, an independent and award-winning studio committed to mindfully creating diverse and inclusive media that represents kids of all ages.

Creator and Executive Producer

Sandhya Nankani

Sandhya is the founder of Literary Safari, a children's media studio. She grew up in Ghana and India with BBC radio, Enid Blyton adventures, Nancy Drew mysteries, and Amar Chitra Katha comics, and discovered the magic of Charlotte's Web when she moved to NJ at age 12. Sandhya is a member of the Education Committee of the Museum of Arts and Design and a founding member of KIDMAP, the Kids' Inclusive and Diverse Media Action Project.

Producer

Anjali Sakhrani

Anjali is the producer of The Story Seeds Podcast. She's inspired by kids and their imagination, which is the driving force of her editorial and design initiatives at Literary Safari. She grew up in Suriname and Miami being enchanted by the stories and characters she read about, and practically made herself Parisian (loving her bread and loving her butter) after reading too much Madeline .

Associate Producer

Kayla Fedeson

Kayla is a New York City-based television producer. When she is not working, she can be found traveling the world. She has worked with kids in Guatemala, South Africa, and Ghana, where she taught a film education program. Growing up, Kayla’s favorite book collection was The Berenstain Bears . She would record herself and her mom reading them aloud well before podcasts ever existed.

Imagination Lab Producer

Alicia Zadrozny

A hopeless creative, Alicia is a children’s writer/editor/producer, and an amateur orchid tender based in New York City. She obtained her MFA at Manhattanville College and worked for Weekly Reader’s READ Magazine, Reader’s Digest Children’s Publishing, Nancy B’s Science Club, and more. As a kid, she usually preferred books to real life and still considers Harriet the Spy to be one of the best books ever.

Field Producer

James Boo

James is a producer who cares about the weight of everyday life and everyday things. He is also the co-creator and show runner of Self Evident — a podcast that tells stories by and about Americans to challenge the narratives about where we're from, where we belong, and where we're going. His favorite childhood book was My Teacher Flunked the Planet series by Bruce Coville.

Child Handler

Amrita

Amrita is 10 years old and has been working with the Story Seeds team since our conception; her story seed appeared on our pilot episode. Her job is to eat most of the snacks on set, to help kids feel more welcome at the recordings, and to makes sure they don’t do anything crazy, like tackling the author! She is also our official user tester and script reader. Her favorite series (right now) is Sharon Messenger's Keeper of the Lost Cities.

Cover Art

Andrea Pippins

Andrea is the creator of the coloring book I Love My Hair and the illustrator of Young, Gifted and Black, which received multiple starred reviews and which the New York Times called “hard to resist.” With her vibrant visual style, Pippins uses her work to create images that celebrate different standards of beauty, highlight visual stories that are often overlooked, and propel her mission of empowering women and girls through creative expression. Andrea is based in Stockholm.

WORDS FROM OUR CREATOR

“My mission in dreaming up Story Seeds was to celebrate and nurture creativity. I wanted to model the magic and mutual inspiration that happens when children are given a real seat at the table as equal collaborators. Why? Because children's ideas matter and deep listening and collaboration is what both kids and grownups need more of today.”
